A short distance from Aquileia, driving along a narrow strip of land that divides the lagoon in two, you can reach the island of Grado, an ancient fishing village which has now become one of the most popular seaside resorts of the Adriatic.
We will walk along the narrow streets and squares of the Old Town flanked by picturesque fishermen houses before reaching the square of the Patriarchs where the imposing basilica of St. Euphemia, as well as the church of St. Mary of Grace and the Baptistery stand.
We'll also enjoy a homemade “gelato” while walking along the beautiful seaside promenade which offers beautiful views of the Gulf of Trieste.
To complete the day we recommend a boat excursion in the lagoon of Grado, sailing among sandbanks, wooden poles and fishermen huts to the island of Barbana, site of an ancient sanctuary dedicated the the Virgin Mary.
