A tour of these two charming Friulian towns are a delightful experience for the eyes and the taste!

Situated on the banks of the Tagliamento river, Spilimbergo is one of the most beautiful and interesting towns in the high plains of Friuli and home of the world-famous School of Mosaic.

We'll visit the historic center of the old town which still retains its medieval urban layout and numerous original buildings located in the Main Square representing the center of administrative and economic activities during the Middle Ages.

We'll see the 14th-century Loggia and the Duty Palace as well as the beautiful 14th century Cathedral, one of the most important Gothic buildings in Friuli. Inside there's a beautiful cycle of frescoes depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments.

Not to be missed is also the Castle with its stunning 15th century Painted Palace decorated with frescoes and stone balconies.

Our tour also includes a visit to the “Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli”, the only professional school of mosaic art in the world. As you enter the hall and the classrooms, you immediately experience a special atmosphere: multi-colored mosaic tiles and masterpieces testify that everything here is created from embedded materials, light and movement. An experience not to be missed!

For the pleasure of the taste, we will then move to the nearby town of San Daniele del Friuli. We'll visit a prosciutto factory to see the transformation of the fresh pig haunch into San Daniele ham. We'll move from the lower temperature cellars to the final ageing cellars where hundreds of hams await inspection and branding.

A prosciutto tasting will follow to fully enjoy this delicious product, whose incomparable taste makes it the most delicate in all of Italy.
