This tour is a perfect combination of Friulian food and wine at its best!
In the morning, following the “Route of Castles and Ham”, we will reach the scenic morenic hills area where San Daniele del Friuli is located. This charming hill-town overlooking the Friulian countryside is famous for its architectural beauty but most of all for its exquisite prosciutto, whose genuine and special taste derives from the particular “microclimate” of this area in Friuli.
We will stroll through the narrow picturesque streets that lead to the historic center dominated by the 17th-century Cathedral filled with art treasures, the nearby Town Hall and the stunning Church of St. Anthony which houses the most beautiful Renaissance cycle of frescoes in the region.
We'll then visit a prosciutto factory to see the transformation of the fresh pig haunch into San Daniele ham. We'll move from the lower temperature cellars to the final ageing cellars where hundreds of hams await inspection and branding.
A prosciutto tasting will follow to fully enjoy this delicious product, whose incomparable taste makes it the most delicate in all of Italy.
In the afternoon, we will stop at a winery in the Grave wine district of Friuli: you'll meet the winemaker, share his knowledge about the wine-making process and take a tour of the plant and cellars before enjoying the taste of a good vintage and eventually bring a few bottles home!

- This tour must be booked at least 96 hours in advance of your travel date.
- Confirmation for this product will be received within 48 hours of booking, subject to availability.
- The tour starts at Venice train station. You will take the train and travel from Venice to Udine unescorted. Train tickets are included in the tour package and will be sent to you via email, together with train schedule, vouchers and all travel details. You must specify the name and address of your accommodation as well as your contact telephone number during your stay in Venice at the time of booking. This information is very important in case you need to be contacted regarding changes in the train/tour departure times. The train leaves at 8.04 am and you are advised to be at the train station at least 15 minutes before train departure. The train arrives at Udine train station at 9.53 am and the local tour guide will meet you at the exit, by the ticket office, holding a sign with your name. At the end of the tour, the guide will take you back to Udine train station and assist you on departure. You will travel back from Udine to Venice unescorted.
